Mage Nexus
A downloadable game for Windows
Early alpha/prototype for Mega Man Battle Network inspired game.
Now on Version 0.1.2
Roguelike mode
Many improvements have been made to the roguelike mode since the last update.
Most of the assets are free assets from itch.io, and all are credited within the game.
Comments are much appreciated, especially any bug reports or suggestions.
Tutorial: There is now a tutorial implemented in the game.
Controls can be found in game inside the Controls option on the main menu.
You can exit the battle screen and return to the main menu by pausing (keyboard: p) and selecting exit.
Move around on your side of the field while attacking the other side. The goal is to wipe out the monsters.
Card Selection: There are 2 ways to select cards. All cards selected together must share a name OR all cards must share a letter code, as shown underneath them on the card selection screen. The asterisk (*) represents a "wild card" that can be used with any letter code.
You also have a basic attack that deals 1 damage or can be charged for 10 damage.
When the bar at the top fills you can press A/S (keyboard) or LB/RB (Controller) to reopen the card selection screen.
There is a deck edit screen with every card available. Have fun with different deck combinations.

Okey wow, lol I had no idea what was happening at first and kept getting hit. But I love turned based and jrpgs so it did click right before I died. It was also unclear why I was limited in readying spells or why so after selecting a few the rest greyed out.
It would be nice if you can add a short explanation on your page with the commands. I was surprised how much you had already in game, also with controller working too, I had no idea haha. I love the concept, it would be sick to see it worked out even more. That's it!
I'm reaching out to other creators atm cause I also released a short prototype, and would mean a lot if you can check it out too, maybe we have similar styles in games we like actually. Tactical/magic is a big thing for me.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for trying it out. To be clear, my game's pretty much an obvious copy of the Mega Man Battle Network games, so I guess I kind of forgot that people who haven't played those exist. I'll add a short tutorial to this page relatively soon. I'll take a look at your game too.
